Lakhiwe was established in 2002 to form a local BBBEE Company in the Eastern Bushveld Complex of Port Elizabeth.
Initially Lakhiwe entered into partnership with Fraser Alexander to offer bulk earthworks, bulk materials handling and opencast mining services.
In 2006 a strategic decision was taken to develop the Company into a major individual player as a Mining Services Company.
The focus was to grow the business in the Port Elizabeth Valley but soon the business expanded to North West and Mpumalanga.
In 2015 Lakhiwe acquired Fraser Alexander Bulk Mech in order to increase it?s footprint by expanding its services into the coal market.
In 2015 Lakhiwe moved into it's Head office in Port Elizabeth. Lakhiwe believes in strategic long term partnership with all share holders in it's business. Lakhiwe is a 51% black owned company.

Subsequent to being OHSAS 18001 certified since Nov 2013, reflecting our value of working safely, the company embarked on the conversion from OHSAS 18001 to the newly introduced ISO 45001:2018 standard and also added ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. Lakhiwe received certification from DQS for their Integrated SHEQ Management System in October 2019.
